To all pandemic-era consumers troubled by touching surfaces as they check out: this one is for you. Showfields is introducing a contactless app to support customers and their health as they return to in-store shopping.
The retailer created Magic Wand, an app that boosts the in-store experience by allowing shoppers to use their phones to scan objects to learn more about them. Additionally, the app will enable customers to add items to a digital cart to check out sans physical contact.
This new app reminds us of the tech behind Amazon Go, which featured technologies used in self-driving cars (computer vision, sensor fusion, and deep learning) to achieve a checkout-free shopping experience.
